DAY TWO:

ATOMS OF LIFE CONTINUTED
Orbital diagrams
Bonding: Ionic vs. Covalent
Dihydrogen Monoxide: WATER!!!!
HW: Penny Pre-lab

 

DAY THREE:

WATER, WATER, EVERYWHERE
Penny Lab: Investigating hydrogen bonding in WATER!
HW: Write up penny lab

 

DAY FOUR:

pH- UN, FUN, FUN!
Background worksheet on pH (acids, bases, indicators)
Pre-lab pH: Design an experiment to test the acidity/basisity of 8 different substances
HW: pH lab write up

 

DAY FIVE:

INTRO TO MACROMOLECULES
Students work in groups to prepare a presentation on a macromolecule
Students build a model of their compound out of CANDY!!
HW: Prepare presentations

 

DAY SIX:

MACROMOLECULE PRESENTATIONS
Students present macromolecules
Audience takes notes on MM wkst
HW: Study for Biochem quiz

 

DAY SEVEN:

WRAPPING UP THE BIOCHEM UNIT
Assessment: Unit Quiz
Review biochem concepts
