DAY THREE:

EXPECTATIONS
Class discussion of syllabus
Advice
QoD Appropriate class rules
HW: Journal entry #1: Thoughts on biology thus far- concerns, questions, etc.

 

DAY FOUR:

REVIEW SCI METHOD/NOTETAKING
Discussion of how to read a textbook
Modeling notetaking
HW: Reading notes on scientific method

 

DAY FIVE:

SCIENTIFIC METHOD IN DEPTH
Formal hypothesis writing
Hypothesis vs. Theory
What is a control? Variable?
Do all scientists use this method all the time?
QoD: Hypo vs. theory
HW: 5 original hypotheses

 

DAY SIX:

REVIEWING CONCEPTS: GRAPHING & CHARTS
Discuss hypotheses and controlled experiments
Graphing example
Begin Pulse Rate Lab
HW: Journal entry #2: Design an experiment to test which brand of soap "Biotide" or "Stainbegone" cleans clothing the best.

 

DAY SEVEN:

CONCLUDING UNIT 1/ REVIEW CONCEPTS
Discuss controlled experiment
Finish pulse rate lab- discussion
Review unit: game and study sheet
HW: Complete unit 1 work/update labbook- STUDY FOR QUIZ

 

DAY EIGHT:
