Chicago Area Prairie Plants

Statement by Bob Shaw: Photographer, Site Developer and Fermilab Docent

This is my attempt to provide a simple way to identify prairie plants found in the Chicago area.  It is based on my 30+ years of teaching middle school science.  Having been involved in leaf collections and rock and mineral identifications I have tried to make this as simple as possible so that both novice teachers and students could use this to identify flowers.  It has been used by some teachers and docents at the Lederman Science Center at Fermilab.  The pictures were taken by me at The Morton Arboretum, Wolf Road Prairie, Belmont Prairie, the Great Western Prairie and Fermi National Laboratory.  I will update this as corrections or additions need to be made.
