Connection to Science and Technology
As particle physicists develop detectors and accelerators, invariably they create new tools for science and technology. Particle physics has contributed to the development of such technologies as magnetic resonance imaging, therapies for cancer treatment, cryogenics, fast electronics and computing, and communications. The World-Wide Web was invented and developed at CERN, a particle physics laboratory!
