International Partnerships Program

Italians from a Previous Year

Fermilab has developed international partnerships with countries to bring undergraduate and graduate students from foreign countries to do research at Fermilab. Unlike the internship programs where students apply to Fermilab or the Department of Energy, foreign institutions are responsible for selecting the students. Fermilab supplies financial resources to cover student expenses while at Fermilab for a 3-6 month temporary period.

Fermilab has partnerships with institutions in Scotland and Mexico for undergraduates and Italy, Brazil and The Czech Republic for graduate students. Fermilab plans to increase the number of partnerships over time.

For many years, Fermilab has had a partnership with Italian institutions for students who are engineering students from the Scuola Superiore di Sant' Anna (SSSA) in Pisa, physics and engineering students selected and sponsored by the Italian National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN), and physics and engineering students selected and sponsored by the Italian Scientists and Scholars in North America Foundation (ISSNAF).

The international students from previous years and their work are featured along with the summer interns on the Fermilab Summer Students and Teachers site.
