West Chicago City Museum

Educational Programs

Complementing the exhibits are a variety of hands - on educational activities and materials designed to help visitors both young and old become more involved with history. These materials are for use during Museum hours. Prearranged tours and special programs are available to groups coming to the Museum for a visit. These activities have been created to meet the developmental needs of our visitors, whether children or adults. Tours include such topics as pioneer life, railroad history, a cemetery treasure hunt, map reading, and the history of printing. Special subject tours can be arranged. Traveling programs have been developed for school or youth groups within the West Chicago school district and tie- in with State school curriculum guidelines and Scout badge requirements. Resources such as videos, self - guided tour brochures and a reference library are also available for public use. For more information, or to set up a tour or program, please contact the Education Coordinator at the Museum.
