Students you have just been hired by a jingle house in Chicago. The jingle house produces music for radio,TV and movies. Most of their work is for 15, 30 and 60 second commercial "spots." They do every style of music from Classical, Romantic, Baroque, Jazz, Blues, Rock, Pop, Rap and Alternative. Because of the many different styles of music, they need equipment that is also flexible to produce these sounds. The jingle house currently owns a state of the art Macintosh computer system. Most importantly, they need equipment that works in a very simple fashion - Time is Money. You need to create the best system with a budget of $11,000. After you decide what gear you want, surf over to the music stores and see who will give you the best prices! (maybe you decide you need service and you are willing to pay more for on-site service!)

You Need to Purchase the Following:

  • Synthesizers or Samplers (As many as you can purchase)(Best Quality & Ease of Use!)
  • 8 Track Digital Multitrack (You only need one of these)(You can purchase a stand alone deck or use the Mac computer as the recorder with the right software and hardware attachments! Check price and features!)
  • Digital Mastering Deck, DAT Digital Audio Tape Machine (You only need one of these)
  • Computer Sequencing Software (You only need one of these for a Macintosh computer)(You may want to purchase software that contains a 8 track digital recorder)
  • SMPTE/MIDI computer time lock device, and MIDI break out hardware (You only need one of these)

- You must write out your answers and be able to explain your choices!

- Your teacher may ask you to complete the section "Questions to Answer"
