A compendium of fascinating information about "composers and their works, performing artists, historical periods, musical terms, and instruments". The section on the Renaissance period of music and its key 'players' and contributions is detailed and well-written. A must-have reference for further research about music for this time period once you have found information on specific terms, composers, and instruments.

This is a wonderful reference on the history of music. Covers period instruments and how they have developed through the years, information on composers of each time period, the rise and fall of various methodoligies, and information on how music reflected its time period and more importantly, changed the way man looked at music.
