Novice Iam willing to learn but I ahve very little experience.	I never used a computer.	I have never saved things on my computer.	I have never used a word processor.	I have never used a spreadsheet.	I have never created or used a database	I have never used graphics or pictures on a computer.
Near Proficient I am getting better. I know the basics.	I use a computer primarily for pleasure.	I have saved things on my computer, but I don't know where they are.	I have used a word processor a few times.	I have used a spreadsheet on occasion.	I have used a database a few times, but I have never created one.	I have selected/created and placed a simple picture in a document.
Proficient I'm very good and use the computer alot.	I can use a computer to load software and print my work.	I have saved things on my computer, and I can find them when I need them.	I do some of my work using word processing, and I know how to edit.	I can use a simple spreadsheet to add a column of numbers. I can make a simple chart or graph.	I can use a database to collect and study data. I have used a database to sort and print information.	I can design and change graphics using draw & paint tools. I can place graphics in documents.
Advanced I'm very know- legeable and can do a lot of things with technology well.	I can change the way my computer desktop looks. I can hook up other periphial devices to my computer.	I know how to create folders for organizing my saved files and sometimes I make backup copies.	I use the word processor for most of my work. I can format and make my work look good.	I use a spreadsheet to keep track of stats, budgets, and other data for my personal and school use.	I can use a database to keep track of statsand other data for my personal and school use.	I have changed the look of graphics and pictures using photo software.

I don't know about the rights and wrongs of using tech-nologies.	I have never used an electronic source to gather information to complete a task or solve a problem.	I have never used a computer to do a presentation.	I haven't used computers or technologies very much.
Near Proficient I am getting better. I know the basics.	I have used the Web with the help of others.	I have used e-mail some when others help me.	I know some things about copyright and responsible use.	I can do a simple search for info with electronic sources.	I have given a presentation using text and clipart.	I've used a computer a little. I know some basic things.
Proficient I'm very good and use the computer alot.	I am able to use Internet to find info on my own.	I am able to use e-mail by myself. I have been in chat groups.	I know that there are some sites I shouldn't enter, that I shouldn't copy software, or use other's work.	I can do a complex searchusing different electronic sources.	I have given electronic presentations using text, clip art, digital pics, sound, etc.	I've used technology quite a bit, and I'm very good.
Advanced I'm very know- legeable and can do a lot of things with technology well.	I have created my own webpages.	I know how to attach documents and pictures to my e-mail.	I understand appropriate technology use and can share that info with others.	I can narrow my search to match my topic. I can use a variety of electronic sources.	I have given a sophisticated, well- designed electronic presentation.	I'm very knowledgeable about computers and software. I do most of my work on a computer.
