Office of Education and Public Outreach: Sue Sheehan

Kathy Sue Sheehan is an Education Program Leader at the Lederman Science Education Center of Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. After nine years of conducting field trips, classes and teacher workshops as a docent, Sue now manages the docents and oversees the prairie programs.

Sue is a Certified Interpretive Trainer for the National Association for Interpretation. She has been involved with teaching workshops for guides who have a desire to incorporate NAI’s interpretive methods. One of Sue’s interests is studying prairie insects. She, with two coworkers, published a study of prairie pollinators in the Chicago Wilderness journal. Before coming to Fermilab, Sue was a mathematics teacher at the junior high, high school and college levels.

When Sue isn’t working, she loves walking through the prairie, observing the plants and insects. She and her husband enjoy bike riding, hiking and raising their two sons.
