Cricket Frog (Acris crepitans)

Cricket frogs are very small frogs found in streams. These frogs used to be very common in the area, but since the 1970s they have become very uncommon. Cricket frogs are greenish with black markings, and often have a dark triangle on the top of the head with the point of the triangle facing toward the rear. Although cricket frogs sometimes go exploring out of water, they are never far from it, especially small shallow streams.

A cricket frog's call is a series of short clicking sounds, like two marbles or pebbles being hit together.
