You have used the principle of conservation of momentum to determine the top quark mass. Mass does indeed come from energy as Einstein predicted. You have gained some experience using actual data to see how scientists analyze particle collisions.
You may begin to understand that the last pieces in The Standard Model puzzle have been assembled from the enegry in Fermilab's Tevatron.
