William Gaines
Willie, an African-American teacher from Chicago Vocational High School, received a Teacher Research Associates appointment with the Fermilab Research Division. The experience was
beneficial for everyone involved. Willie's life was changed through his TRAC participation. He conceptual knowledge and self-confidence grew; he was revitalized and took a new approach in the classroom with his students. His classroom practices, modeled after Fermilab's collaborative style and caring atmosphere, became more relevant and motivating to his inner city students. Willie was rehired for subsequent summer work at Fermilab.
