Solution 1:
Printing from Shockwave Movie

  • Pass name from HTML page to Shockwave movie using SW parameters.

  • Generate the Page to Print in the Shockwave Movie

  • Tell User to Print it using the Browser Menu.

  • Advantages: everything can be written in Lingo.

Results

  • Netscape Navigator prints O.K. if just Shockwave Movie

  • Internet Explorer fails to show embedded movie on Macintosh when printing.

  • Internet Explorer on PC crashes the program.

  • Internet Explorer does not allow passing variable information with the SW parameters. It becomes the literal. So for users with I.E., they must to enter their names again within the Shockwave movie.

  • Drawback: Movie generally limited to 320x608 to make everything visible. Results page should be much bigger. Requires more graphics in movie (e.g., the graphics for the money.
