- A web interface for Lasso administration allows building and populating Lasso MySQL databases. It also allows setting up security (groups and users with passwords) for the databases.
- wwwdev1 provides an environment where I can run Filemaker as an application and change the databases on the fly. Not possible for wwwserver2 as production machine.
- I can export and import setup files and move them between wwwdev1 and wwwserver2.
- I use my CDServer user area for moving files between machines. I can currently access this area from a PC or Mac.
- I can access wwwserver2 directly from the Mac.
- I use Terminal Client on a PC to access both wwwserver2 and wwwdev1.
- Filemaker files can be easily copied and used by Education Office staff and others. (e.g., ESPG)
- Use BBEdit (text editor for Mac) for most of my web pages. I edit these from my Mac.
- I need to update to Lasso Professional 6 and Lasso Studio 6.
- Lasso Studio 6 provides plug-ins to Dreamweaver for Lasso Development. I would need to purchase Dreamweaver for Windows 2000.
- Lasso MySQL is faster than Filemaker so developing new databases that do not require staff use in MySQL.
- Lasso and Filemaker under the MacOS allowed searching with field-level Ors. The version under Windows does not so I had to add a lot of Lasso code to filter records. MySQL provides field-level Or support.
