The Association of Science and Technology Center has added Brian Wegley, a physics teacher from Glenbrook South High School, Glenview, IL to the 1997 ASTC Honor Roll of Teachers.
Brian was recommended by the Lederman Science Center to be honored for his involvement in our physics programs. After completing a summer research appointment through the DOE TRAC Program, Brian coordinated the Topics in Modern Physics Summer Institute in 1994 and 1995 and the Conceptual Physics Symposium in 1996. Brian was a member of the group who revised the TMP Teacher's Guide last year, and he had led Physics West for several years. In addition to all these activities, Brian developed two Websites for high school physics classes, one on neutron therapy and another on general relativity.
Kristin Ciesemier, Fermilab Education Specialist remarks, "Brian has been an exemplary participant and program coordinator who has made significant contributions to Fermilab's education programs. He has an "E. F. Hutton" personality - rather quiet but when he speaks everybody listens. He is a thoughtful teacher who carefully creates meaningful learning opportunities for his students, whether they be high school age or adults."
We are fortunate to have Brian among our family of teachers.
Brian was honored at the Wonders of Science Show on April 20 and
in Washington, DC on May 1 and 2 in conjunction with National
Science & Technology Week.
