Volunteer Opportunities: Speaking to Student Tour Groups

Other Volunteer Opportunities

The Education Office hosts middle and high school tours throughout the year. A highlight of their tour is the time spent with a scientist or engineer.

As a volunteer, you can make science and scientists approachable. Here Ralph Pasquinelli of the Accelerator Division is talking to students from the St. Louis area. These conversations can make a big impression on the students. Look at these "before and after" portraits and comments middle school students made.

Your interaction with college students can alter a student's career. At Fermilab, you can give them a sense of what life is like for a professional scientist or engineer. Depending on the group, you can be more technical in your discussions than you would be with middle and high school students.
