This site is part of an on-line exhibition prepared in conjunction with
the Colloquium "Antiqua Medicina: Aspects in Ancient Medicine"
held in McLeod Hall, at the Health Sciences Center of the University of
Virginia on February 27, 1997. Modern medicine began in 1543 with the publication
of the first complete textbook of human anatomy, De Humanis Corporis Fabrica
by Andreas Vesalius. This site discusses the great work of this anatomist
of the renaissance.
