Around-the-World Zoo

BIOME PRESENTATION

Your group will research a given biome. You should find information about the climate (temperature, precipitation, etc.), common vegetation, and common animals. You should also know where the biome is found in the world. Your group will teach this information to the class. You are encourgaged to use Power Point for your class presenation.

 

PHYLUM PRESENTATION

Your group will research a given phylum from the Animal Kingdom. You should find information about the common characteristics of animals classified in this phylum. You should include several examples (including pictures) of animals in this phylum so we can begin to recognize the characteristics of the phylum. You will teach this information to the class. You are encourgaged to use Power Point and the Internet for your presentation.

 

CREATE A BIOME/HABITAT WEBSITE

Your group will design habitats for a specific biome. Your design will be in the form of a website. You will use Pagemill to accomplish this. Eventually, we will add animals to your habitats. Will they have shelter? Will they have food? Will they have water?

 

JOURNAL

Each day you will write your reflections about the "Around-the-World Zoo" in a journal. The journals will be collected each week. Think about questions you have, accomplishments for the day, problems you've encountered, solutions you've uncovered, etc.

 

MAINTAINING THE WEBSITE

1. Classifying Animals--You are responsible for correctly classifying the animals by their phylum, biome, and habitat.

2. Responding to e-mail--You are responsible for making corrctions to our zoo and answering questions from zoo visitors. Remember, we must be accurate and polite in our responses to the public.
