Enter the study site QUIETLY. Spread out and sit quietly for five minutes. Record all the things you see and hear. Make brief notes of insects, spiders, scat, evidence of mammals and birds you see or hear. This activity can be repeated at different times and places throughout the study area. Watch for animal tracks and scat as you walk along. Be sure to record the time, weather conditions and date below or in your journal.
