Your mission:

Identify a risky action you routinely engage in and determine just how risky it is.

Background:

Everything we do every day involves some element of risk. What is risk? Risk is anything that has the possibility or loss or injury. Think about the risks you took getting to school today. You may think you didn't do anything risky so far, but stop and think: Did you ride in a car? Did you walk across a street? Or maybe you rode a bike. If so, did you wear a helmet?

All of these activities are potentially dangerous enough to lead to injury, but can we avoid all risks at all times to try to remain safe? Of course not. But how do you determine which risks are worth taking and which you should avoid?

Getting Started:

1. Risky Business: An interactive web search with samples of risky activities. If you missed it, check it out now before going on to number 2.

2. Identify something you do, or would like to do, that involves risk.

3. Find the sources/websites involved with this thing that will help you determine how risky it is.

4. Need help? Check out the Resources Button on the left.

5. The "Student Rubric" will be your guide.
