Intro: Choosing the Right Materials
We choose the materials and their thickness very carefully to be sure we capture as much as possible of the the energy of the particles. If we goof and don't choose the right materials, it is something like making a baseball glove out of paper. The ball would just sail through without being caught. We might be able to catch a ping pong ball, but not a baseball!
