EcoMedia is a national media recycling organization dedicated to preventing media waste going into landfills. They recycled enough magnetic materials in 1995 to cover the area of 36 football fields. The following is just a sample of the type of magnetic-related materials EcoMedia will accept for recycling: assorted hardware, CD's, jewel cases, cartridges, floppy discs, etc. Shipping may also be free. Prairie Chapter of the American Vacuum Society is seeking applicants for the High School Science Educators' Workshop to be held in San Jose, CA, Octrober 20-21, 1997. The Prairie Chapter will sponsor up to four teachers who will be selected for excellence, leadership, and commitment to development of new experiments. All travel expenses will be paid by the Prairie Chapter of the AVS. Limited funds are available for substitute teacher pay. Teachers will receive CE units. The Society will provide grants allowing the schools the teachers represent to purchase vacuum equipment valued at approximately $700. Send a resume, a one-page narrative on the impacting of attending this program and having the equipment in the classroom, a letter of support from the district and a recommendation letter from peers.
