Description:
The purpose of this unit is for students to investigate the use of modern
techonology, such as genetic engineering , to solve problems such as the
extinction. Students may collaborate with other students to understand different
views on the preservation of species and the destruction of rainforests.
Finally, the ethics of using other species in transgenic research as recipients
of this information can be addressed.
Subject: Biology (Ecology and Genetic Engineering)
Grade Level: Grade level- 10-12
Learner Description: This unit of study
would most effectively be used as an introduction to the concepts of bioethics
and the effect of man on the environment or the unit on applied genetics.
Time Frame: The duration of this project is variable. Depending on the paths the students may take, this unit may last from one to three weeks.
