Assignment Block 3

 Week 9
Students form groups based on interests/questions submitted to the COW in Block 2.

Groups create and sign a contract listing responsibilities within the group. Post a copy of the agreement and a list of the members to the COW.
Week 10

Students submit a typed 1 to 2 page Book Report (on the book selected during week 2) to your teacher.(See Rubric for First Writing Assignment.)

Students meet with teacher and submit idea for research paper. It is preferable that the topic coincides with the class or group web site project. Once the topic is approved, student may begin research (use note cards, resources submitted in the COW).

Week 11
Groups brainstorm to create a list of what makes a good web page.

Class compares and contrasts lists. The class will reach a consensus on what makes a good web page and post that to the COW for future reference. (no student assignment this week.)
Week 12
Students meet with the teacher to review note cards and bibliography for individual research paper.

Students post three to five sample test questions on the Revolutionary War or the effects of war.(on the COW)

General Guidelines
Post both individual assignments and group assignments to the COW unless instructed otherwise. At least one assignment will be turned in each week. Each person is responsible for submitting at least one group report during each assignment block(teacher assigns groups for first two blocks and students select groups for final two blocks.)

To get help with assignments or guidance with the use of technology, the teacher's rule is to "Ask three before you ask me"- ask three students from your class before asking the teacher or media specialist. If you still have a question or need help, choose one of the following:
1- e-mail your teacher or the media specialist with your question
2- post a question in the Conferencing on the Web (COW)
3- ask the teacher or media specialist
