Before the Aviation Project this project did not exist. Components of the Aviation Project were taught without the aviation slant. The classes were taught in the traditional way with a teacher at the front of the classroom giving the students direction. Students took notes. The teacher gave some guided practice problems. The teacher checked for student understanding by looking at completed work. Homework was assigned to extend the learning.

Grade Level: 10th grade

Subject: CAD

Learner Outcomes: Students were able to create drawings using CAD. Students were able to draw three view (multiview) drawing and place dimensions according to standards.

Student Task: Students read the lesson from the text book and answered chapter questions. Students took notes while the teacher lectured and reviewed the CAD book concepts. Students then went to the computer, opened the CAD program, and drew the required drawing. The teacher assisted those students who had questions.

Teacher Role: The teacher instructed the students on the use of the CAD program and the elements of layout and design. Students were directed by the teacher to design specific drawings.

Grouping: Students worked individually but they were allowed to help those students in their area who needed help.

Hook:

  1. Cad was the new language of industry.
  2. Sample CAD drawings were displayed in the classroom.
  3. CAD jobs were available with good starting salaries.

Student-Directed Learning: None. The course was directed by the Vocational Education Department and book adoption.

Use of Technology: The computer CAD program was used by students to help them design and create blueprints.

Assessment: Chapter test accuracy and completeness of CAD drawings were evaluated be the instructor.
